The operator of El Dorado Chemical Company, the south Arkansas chemical plant that exploded in 2012, has filed a federal lawsuit against Air Liquide, the supplier that is responsible for over $100 million in damages and losses as a result of the explosion.

The lawsuit accuses the supplier of negligence in failing to properly maintain the oxygen pipes at the nitric acid plant in Arkansas. El Dorado is part of Oklahoma City-based LSB Industries, Inc.

The plant exploded in 2012 after re-opening from two weeks’ worth of maintenance and repair. The lawsuit specifically claims that the components placed in the piping by Air Liquide ignited a very violent oxygen fire.

Thankfully, no one was injured at El Dorado Chemical Company when the gas explosion occurred.
