HOW INFECTIONS SPREAD

Some patients encounter an infection within hours of admission when strains of hospital bacteria, viruses or parasites infect their bodies, usually through their skin, respiratory tract, genitals or urinary tract. Infections are caused for many reasons including medical negligence. For example, pathogens may be present on the hands of a health-care provider who comes into contact with a patient. Other causes are contaminations in the heating and air conditioning systems.
