Do I Need An Attorney For a Social Security Claim?

Friedman, Domiano & Smith Blog Post

How do I know if I need an attorney for a social security claim?

You need an attorney for social security if you have been denied benefits once you have applied for social security. The reason you need an attorney is because the attorney knows what you need to present at the administrative hearing and, if you lose at the administrative hearing, how and what do you do next. The attorney knows that you go to federal court and you have to file an appeal from the administrative law judge’s decision before you can go into federal court.

Once you go to federal court, there’s a procedure in federal court where you have a hearing before a federal district court judge or a magistrate appointed by the federal district court.
